Eve is probably the most 'Geeky' game on the internet, atleast that I have come across. It is the nature of internet gaming of this kind that people like to be superior to others. As a large group of players you are undoubtedly superior to all other groups, but not every intelligent player is in BoB, and not everyone in BoB is essentially better than everyone else at EVE.
BoB gives you your power, your position of superiority and domination that honestly deep down you so deeply crave. Your mockery of the EVE playerbase, subtle though it is, and chest beating is not required. No individual in BoB should be aiming even the slighest mark of disrespect or ego inflation anywhere within this game, and that you do is only a sign of weakness, and deepest disrespect. For all the fact you are a part of a massive machine, individually you are a person who shows weakness, when you could remain silent and command nothing but fear and respect.
I dont think BoB will collapse as long as they continue to do what they do. They will have a constant supply of new recruits, and their more skilled and advanced members will not find the same level of gameplay of this type anywhere else in EVE. Perhaps if these people grow tired, not of 'winning EVE' like is said, but 'owning EVE' like what they enjoy doing, then BoB may collapse.
If this game turns into a 'join BoB or be mocked by BoB, owned by BoB, kept in your place by BoB' then EVE has a problem. As such an awsomely powerful group, you actually have a responsibility for the game overall. Your conduct in the game is one thing, but out of game its something else. No one can ask you not to fly around crushing all that cant survive you, but you should not need asked to address your fellow players, and foes, with the utmost respect. You wouldnt want to kill EVE by being a group people just utterly despise and cant stand being around/associated with in any way? Sure your diplomatic/intelligence people might tell you all your associates have no problems with your conduct, but people might just get fed up with you waving your guns and beating your chests, and if they cant beat you, leave the game.
On the dot. Are you a psychiatrist by any chance?
It's human nature to want to win as it is basically an extension of the strongest instinct of them all, that of survival.
You'll never get them to admit it of course because its stupendously insulting. If I were in their position I'd be somewhat perturbed by your comments aswell.
"I dislike BoB because they win" A difficult thing to admit almost as difficult as them admitting to your points.
"They're the Manchester United of Eve and thats why I dislike them". A game of football is fun in just the same way a battle in Eve is fun, but the bigger picture is a different story. A persons devotion to their football club or even their country in a time of war is a practically identical situation. The difference being this is an imaginary world, one we don't take seriously (lol ) but the fundamental rules governing the way we act remain.
What few morals we have tell us to ignore these ingrained emotions and 'be a good sport'. being polite is something utterly at odds to our primeval nature as human beings however.
All this should be apparent to every human being, unfortunately discussions of this nature when related to a 'game' will remain taboo...
